The Lord Jesus be with you Mr. Mironchuck, thank you for talking about Girard and the vengeful son. I’m learning I really need to lean into the prodigal son type thinking and have been spending a lot of time in prayer and Bible study lately. As at times I’ve felt a deep anger and resentment inside me as the medical system destroyed much in my life, but I realize this was in God’s providence removing false idols of this world from me, and drawn me to Him.
Without Christ, I would be lost in the changing spirits of the age; in Him, I am set free and have an eternal hope, one that’s actually real. Sometimes it’s cloudy, but every so often the clouds part and I can see that Christianity is actually true, not just some false hope to help people deal with death but on a higher metaphysical level it’s actually all REAL.
Going through CS Lewis has helped as well, seeing that ironically, it’s materialism that’s the spell of sorcery that’s been cast upon us (The Silver Chair from the Narnia series), which is counter intuitive as we would imagine a spell to cause more mysticism, it’s in fact hidden it, as to lead man away from the realization of God. But when this spell fades, I imagine the pivot will be into New Age mysticism, “the dark elites have hidden the truth from you anon!” from types like Robert Sepher.
That Hideous Strength, when the archetypes of the planets Mars, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter come down and the characters experience the pure masculine, feminine, antiquity, poetry, majesty, etc… I wonder if some spirits of the age may be dark principalities representing chaos like Behemoth, as Cal gets into on his interpretation of Job in the cosmic war we are in (and shows how Jung gets it wrong).
