Hello Substackers!
I’ve been promising to do more on Substack since I created a Substack account 3 years ago, consider this a Promise Kept! (finally)
Starting today I am adding all of the Chapters of Tales of the Shadow Empire (5 so far with a 6th on the way) available to monthly members. To commemorate these additions I’m posting Chapter 1 - The Shadow Economy w/Stormy Waters for free, I will also be uploading the Data Cinema versions of Chapter 2 - The Shadow System w/Stormy Waters over the next few days, we are still working on more Data Cinema versions and more Chapters to the main work, plus updating the previous Chapters with visual and audio enhancements, so be sure to click on any future announcements!
I have also increased the monthly membership fee from $5 USD to $10 to keep the pricing more in line with other memberships I have available on other platforms. I have always been committed to providing more value with each new episode and series and 2025 will be no different. Starting this week I will be starting a new series called Then & Now w/Jim Jatras. Jim is a retired U.S. diplomat, policy adviser, and analyst for the Republican leadership in the U.S. Senate, he is an expert on Eastern European history and politics, an Orthodox Christian and has in 2024 published a collection of his writings over the last 40 years entitled ‘I Tried To Warn You’.

Then & Now will be a weekly series that serves as a historical look back on the origins of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, an examination of the current state of the conflict, and a reflection of Jim’s life, times, and career.
New episodes will be streamed live to my YouTube Excelsior Membership for the time being before they are re-touched and optimized for both audio and video platforms and released for free here, there, and everywhere.
Also, new writings are set to emerge here on Substack for paying members, I am putting the last few touches on the first part of my Age of the Vengeful Son - On Spiritual Archetypes and the Revolutionary family - the intent is to release new Chapters and a terms glossary over the next few months before collecting them into a Primer that will put my definitive narrative stamp on both The Vengeful Son and what I hope to be his positive answer The Prodigal Son here’s a little taste of what to expect:
AGE OF THE VENGEFUL SON
On Spiritual Archetypes and the Revolutionary family
You may have noticed a vibe change lately—a shift in the air that feels impossible to ignore. It’s not just in politics, culture, or the economy—it’s generational. I call this energy the "Spirit of the Vengeful Son." It’s more than a metaphor; it’s an archetypal force rising in our time. The Vengeful Son is born out of betrayal, a visceral response to the failures of the preceding generations. It’s the son who looks at the world he’s inherited and proclaims, “This is broken, and I’m going to fix it—or burn it down trying.” This isn’t mindless rebellion; it’s rooted in a genuine desire for justice and accountability, a demand for what was promised, not for what was handed down.
Broadly speaking, society-wide archetypes operate generationally, and just as the generations succeed each other in cycles, so does their zeitgeists. To fully conceptualize the spirit of the Vengeful Son we first need to understand what it's reacting against. Much of the late 19th to mid 20th centuries were dominated by rigid and authoritarian systems and institutions, represented by the Tyrannical Father —This era saw the emergence of hierarchical structures, oppressive rulers and an obsession with control. These systems built much of modern society but often did so at great cost: environmental degradation, economic inequality, and a culture that valued power over people.
Naturally, the destructive aspects of the Tyrannical Father created a reaction which gave way to the emergence of the subsequent spirit of the age, the Devouring Mother. This new archetype was tied to specific historical contexts, particularly those of the mid-20th to early 21st centuries when traditional maternal roles were disrupted by massive societal changes. Industrialization pulled women into factories or away from home life, while wars like World War II forced many mothers into dual roles as both caregivers and breadwinners. Later, during the cultural revolutions of the 1960s and 1970s, there was a societal push toward individualism and personal liberation—movements that often left children without the emotional containment or guidance they needed.
These spiritual archetypes are all encompassing and influence every element of human society. They have a totalizing effect and influence everything from the collective to the individual level. To varying degrees, all aspects of humanity take on the traits of these various spirits. The Tyrannical Father is a figure of raw dominance and control who creates strict patriarchal systems devoid of the fraternal kindness that is a hallmark of positive masculinity. This spirit arose to combat the perceived inequities of the remaining Western Monarchies, furthering the goals of the liberal revolutionary spirit with the promise of making every man a Sovereign through Democratic representational rule. In contrast, the Devouring Mother represents a perversion of the maternal instinct making it overprotective and spiteful instead of nurturing and loving. Over the span of the last sixty years this spirit has stifled ingenuity, emphasized feelings over facts, , and has led to widespread institutional physical abuse of children under the guise of protecting them from societal harm. Born in reaction to the Tyrannical Father, the Devouring Mother promised to liberate and empower Western women, and provide them with both equality and equity.
Lots of new content to get excited about, 2025 is going to be a crazy year, let’s all strap in and get ready, question some priors, and HAVE SOME FUN!
Thank-you for all the love and support, may God bless you and yours!
